The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that BRS leader K Kavitha and some others gave Rs 100 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party. He hatched this conspiracy along with other big leaders including CM Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to get benefits in Delhi Excise Policy. Former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter and MLC K Kavitha (46) was arrested by the ED from her house last week. K Kavita will remain in ED custody till March 23.

The ED has claimed that K Kavita along with others conspired with Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia to gain benefits in the Delhi liquor scam. In return for these favors, Kavita also gave Rs 100 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party. ED said that K Kavitha and his associates had already paid AAP. While seeking remand of Kavita last week, the ED had told the PMLA court that K Kavita was one of the main conspirators and beneficiaries of the Delhi Excise Policy scam.

Let us tell you that K Kavitha had earlier said that she had not done anything wrong and had alleged that the Central Government was using the ED because the BJP cannot enter Telangana through the back door. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that BJP is using ED and CBI as its goons to eliminate political opponents. In the case, ED said that it has conducted searches at 245 places across the country since the case was registered in 2022. 15 people including former Delhi Deputy CM and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, AAP leader Sanjay Singh and some liquor have been arrested.

The ED said it has filed a total of six chargesheets in the case so far and attached assets worth more than Rs 128 crore. The ED and CBI have alleged that the Delhi government’s excise policy of granting licenses to liquor traders allowed cartelisation and favored some dealers, who allegedly paid bribes for it. At the same time, AAP strongly denied this allegation. The policy was later repealed and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into irregularities in its formulation and implementation. Later ED registered a case under PMLA.
